Introduction: The Foundation of Startup Growth
Businesses are classified into two major categories according to their nature, i.e.
- Traditional business system &
- Startup
Traditional businesses don’t necessarily mean only family businesses; it may also be a clone initiative of an established business. They may have structures like franchisee, alliance, or even DSA. As we know, any business can produce goods or services. However, both have very different setup requirements. In contrast, startup growth thrives on innovation, scalability, and flexible structures, making it a distinct pathway compared to traditional business models.
A family business is the most active category of business, where family members are familiar with the pros and cons of an established business. However, a new businessman, often referred to as an entrepreneur, needs proper knowledge and skills for the related work or business.
I am not an economist, but I am aware of the conditions in a business, having set up a startup in the past. So, I thought to explore the opportunities available to Indians. Startups are also businesses, but they have different parameters. Accordingly, if some innovation is added to an existing business model, then it is called a Startup. Of course, you don’t need to be from a business background to initiate a startup or any business, but most importantly, you should have a passion to do that.
Despite this, it (the startup) cannot be organized so easily as 1,2,3. Numerous requirements are necessary to operate a business successfully. Many of us might be thinking that merely making a profit is the measure of success in any industry.
Running a business smoothly is the primary key; however, profit and losses may be incurred periodically. Nevertheless, a good business tends to minimize these losses.
National and state governments in India have initiated various policies to encourage startups by enhancing the factor: “ease of doing business”. You can cover it up with the government: subsidies, grants, loans, incubation, and other policies.
There are some requirements in establishing a startup as per policies:-
- An innovative (fresh) idea
- A business prototype
- Capital for investment
- Entity type should be pvt. Ltd. or LLP.
- And of course, a project plan.
You can enter the startup world through both means, i.e., privately or through government channels. It means you can avail of the facilities offered by government policies by following the rules & regulations.
Alternatively, if you have sufficient capacity, including experience, capital, and confidence, you can also enter the market privately. However, it is beneficial to have initial incubation support before launching your product in the market. It is because an incubation center validates your idea and business prototype.
Startup India Schemes

Startup India is an Indian government entity that has launched its own portal. Any startup that qualifies for policies such as startup registration and entity establishment in a specific nature is eligible for DPIT policies. They can receive a funding grant to address their business needs.
There is also a section for incubators, which are primarily educational organizations that offer mentorship and evaluate business ideas. These incubators provide mentorship, a space for startups to grow, seed funding, and support for other activities, including care and policy awareness. On the Startup India website, we can see a list of incubators that support startups in different categories.
Some private players in incubators are also performing as the government supports them. Funds are allocated to run their incubation centers after following some government policies. So, we can say that it is a system of incubation & startup under the Startup India government. scheme. And it is running successfully.

The concept of a startup scheme has not yet gained widespread acceptance in India. It is a late commitment as compared to Western countries like the US, Israel, and other European countries. Even some countries like Israel have a culture of startups among young people. If they fail in a startup, they can later choose different aspects of their career, but a startup is their first step. A startup is not merely a means of providing employment to an individual, but it’s a way, much like a seed, that has the capacity to become a giant tree. It means a startup has the capacity to provide numerous employment opportunities.
In a country like India, Government bodies are considered superior to all other bodies, even if they may be judicial or economic. Or it can be said that we are engaged in doing politics a lot more often than other activities that help us gain a livelihood, or activities that can make life better.
So, the conclusion is that for a better life, the need for a startup and the goal of the economy, which are related to each other, should be reevaluated. Consider the case of China, where startup policies are regulated /deployed earlier than in India. Their major decisions in the context of economic policies were taken to evolve their economy, making China a powerful country.
So, why India is behind is a big question and a matter of research. Our youths are unemployed, we are overpopulated, and our borders are not safe from encroachment or refugees. and to overcome this situation for a long time, the administration has failed several times.

So, we need harsh policies to prohibit these problems. And significant decisions/ policies are required to boost the economy of India. It is not only the task of startups to overcome all the environmental challenges. Consider a case of the tourism industry here in India.
We have the image that tourists in India are not safe in most places, so how can this industry rise? Even when Indians are not secure in their own country, or we can say that where two major religions quarrel on minor matters, then how can we expect tight laws for equality and a better environment for growth!

Challenges Hindering Startup Growth in India
We are now the most populous country in the world. What are we doing to manage this disaster situation in the future? Is India a dumping ground for the world’s products? Seriously, No! But it is true.
Managing the Indian economy is the most vital task today. And to do this, good governance is needed. By the way, most of the govt. bodies in states are standing up due to the votes not in the name of development, but in the name of other favorable conditions like casteism, religion, etc. However, the situation necessitates a more effective governmental approach to achieve a comprehensive transformation in India’s image and economy.
And it needs research. For instance, why are we experiencing brain drain issues in India, despite our countryis natural competence? Where are we lacking? These are the things of research. At least we can understand how a country like China has risen up. Why are we not utilizing the expertise of our scientists and economists in developing our policies? Why are our societies not safe from crimes? Why are these (crime) cases not decreasing in India?
It should be minimized so that there is scope for growth in both the economy and culture. It is also a remarkable point that without our cultural values, we are nothing. Today, we are copying only from Western culture and values. We don’t need a curtain to hide, but we need a machine that can produce curtains so that we can use them to cover ourselves in need.
Consider another case, that of Bihar, which remains the poorest state in the country. We are so calculative and masterful in politics. To remain in this status, we sometimes omit our requirements for our livelihood. We are a huge workforce, but where is the work to apply that force! And this led to a dispute in our sense among each other.

This is again a situation that leads most of the leaders to regulate a mass number of people here. There is no scope for vision in government where votes are conditional on partial benefits for a specific group of people. These benefits do not last in the long term and are not helpful for the whole society. Again, it leads to an increase in crime cases, and we blame the administration. Actually, we need education to understand why we are lagging in various aspects of life, such as career, economy, and administration within society.
Actually, various methods can be utilized to overcome the situation like this. Some production units are underperforming or not generating a profit. Then what can we do? The government can propose a PPP (public-private partnership) mode of participation to regenerate the ailing bodies/units in the state, and it can be implemented nationwide. However, the economists can offer more informed suggestions.
Key Remedies to Boost Startup Growth in India

There is considerable importance of small-scale industries in the country. But how their numbers can be increased is a big question. The answer lies in the Industrial Revolution and the reform of industrial policies. For example, the government should declare some special economic zones in their respective states. Supply chain method should be simpler and easier to adapt.
For this, two more requisites are the connectivity of roads & administration of the government, which should be improved. We should understand which type of business is more likely to grow in each area.

For example, in the case of Bihar, agri-led businesses like farming, dairy, and food processing sectors have a broad scope. We need investment in these areas. It may be from the private or public sectors. But we need significantly more units, especially in manufacturing. Of course, other kinds of units also have scope, as we are a vastly populated state. Then, only the per capita income of the state can be increased.
We have an excellent growth rate, but we still lag behind most in the country in terms of wealth. To create a better economy, we need a range of industries, from small-scale to large-scale, throughout the country, including in Bihar. To run these units, big capacity power sector units are also required. So, we have a great scope in the industrial revolution, but for this, we need good governance and policies.
Do we understand the relationship between thought processes and business? It is like the tradition in a family business where every member of the family is aware of what and how to do business.
So, we can get a sense of our thoughts and career goals! There is no one best among career goals, but more important is that it should satisfy your objectives and needs. So, what kind of education is essential for doing business? Managerial experience in commerce or economics is more vital than a degree in technical education, which often means gaining a high-salaried job only. So, Education with Research can change the job prospects in career objectives.
The conclusion is that the startup framework will change the mindset of youngsters from job seekers to job providers. In a vast, populated country like India, we need this mindset; otherwise, unemployment is already a big problem for youth.
When a number of jobs will evolve out in a stable economy of the country, everyone can full fill his/her dreams, and it will be because the monetary flow will be massive. If we move forward in the area of sustainable development, India’s image can only improve, as it requires better governance and policies.
