Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ will be released on the big screen on 25 February 2022 after being postponed earlier due to rising coronavirus cases during the second wave.
‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ is inspired by ‘The Matriarch of Kamathipura’, one of the stories inscribed in ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’, the book based on lady dons of Mumbai’s Underworld and written by S. Hussain Zaidi and Jane Borges.
The story told about an ambitious young girl from Kathiawad, Ganga, who wanted to become an actress in Mumbai but ended up becoming a prostitute and later on a brothel madame.
The trailer of the upcoming movie received good responses from netizens on social media. Alia Bhatt, who is portraying Gangubai in the film, has been praised by fans and film critics.
Ajay Devgn is also looking promising and will blow our minds in his extended cameo appearance.
With the perfect direction of Bhansali, Talented Actors like Vijay Raaz, Shantanu Maheshwari, and others are expected to do justice to their roles.
By watching the trailer, one can say that Bhansali showed Gangubai through a different mirror as she is portrayed as a heroine by one of the leading actresses, and her dialogues are trying to make her look feminist.
Alia Bhatt star seems to glorify a prostitute and a brothel madame more than the story of S. Hussain Zaidi.
By observing the appeal of Alia Bhatt’s face, Gangubai’s makeup and integral style in the trailer, it can be concluded that this film will do well at the box office.
